As part of the Information Technology Team, I am responsible for the development of I.T. systems throughout the whole of the Bootle Maritime Tax District.
This includes the development of applications/processes through analysis, evaluation and implementation. Additionally I am responsible for the training of staff to ensure the smooth implementation of any new technology embraced. |
Achievements: | I have been personally responsible for the production of number of unique and revolutionary spreadsheets which have helped to radically improve efficiency and accuracy within our District. These spreadsheets, having been approved by our Customer Service Team are now used throughout the office. At the time of writing a selection of these spreadsheet are currently being reviewed for acceptance at national level. |

Duties: | Reporting to the Line Manager, part of my duties were to assist in the implementation of the Self Assessment System. Whilst the remainder of my duties comprised of manning the telephone helpline for the new system. This entailed explaining how the new system of Self Assessment differed from the old Pay As You Earn system, the implications of the new system and how to navigate and operate the system. |
Achievements: | I thoroughly enjoyed the one to one contact on the telephone helpline and in particular the feeling of satisfaction at being able to help people solve both complex and straightforward problems was very rewarding.Additionally, as I was able to find the root of peoples problems quickly and easily. My line manager at the time stated that I had 'an outstanding ability to pitch my explanations at a level which the customer could understand'. This led to a number of thank you letters being received on my behalf. |

Duties: | As part of a team, I was responsible for ensuring the accurate collection of tax from a large customer base. My duties included interpreting Government legislation to enable Notices of Assessment, Notices of Income Tax Code and general correspondence to be issued to customers and their Professional Representatives. |
Achievements: | Soon after taking up this post it became evident that, due to my analytical prowess and my ability to make soundly based decisions, my expertise lay in interpreting legislation. This grew to such an extent that I soon became the focal point of enquiries within the office. |
