HARDWARE AND SOFTWARE EVALUATION

On the hardware side this consisted of reviewing numerous devices used for input , output and data storage . The review consisted of evaluating each device for accuracy, speed , cost , whether they met the requirement of a business and general ergonomics. Additionally , part of the module covered computer logic and this gave an in depth study of logic gates , truth tables , flip flops , state tables , Kernaugh maps and parallel / serial adders etc.

On the software side we studied compilers , interpreters and evaluated various software packages including Microsoft Word , Excel and Access.

Part of the course work included creating various Word documents , Excel spreadsheets and relational databases in Access. After completing the module I am now more than capable of making decisions concerning both hardware and software when asked to provide solutions to business problems.
