NETWORKING AND DATA COMMUNICATIONS

This module enabled me to develop my skills in using and setting up computer communications systems and networks.

Part of the module covered Asynchronous and Synchronous data transmission, transfer rates, data validation, parity checks etc. The remainder of the module was spent studying network types, network topologies, network cabling and physical connection, network cards, network protocols, network access etc.

By using the information gained in the module a number of assignments had to be completed. Having been given a particular scenario I had to make and justify recommendations for a network solution. The recommendations took the form of a report to be submitted to the Managing Director of the company. Hence, the report as well as being technically correct, also had to be explained in non technical terms for the benefit of the Director.
